Wellness: Finding Balance

As many of my readers know by now, hubs and I are in the middle of a major move. Retirement. From city to country life.

It has been a challenge. And yet it has been one of the most rewarding times in our life.

Moving is not new to us. But it has been awhile. When we were much younger.

Our last move was approximately twenty years ago. Who would think that would make such a difference. But it does.

All my life I have been slow. About four years ago, I was diagnosed with food allergies/sensitivities. Looking at the list, I am guessing that many of these foods have haunted me since I was in grade school.

I was reading an article yesterday about interval fasting. Turns out that at least forty-five percent of the population suffers from some kind of food allergy or sensitivity. And this is not the immediate life-threatening type. It is the slow, creeping type. Like in my case.

Since I was in grade school, I have done calisthenics to try and keep in shape, to boost my energy, to feel better. And to this day, I still try to do my routine at least four to five times per week. I am not always successful, but I strive to be. Mainly, because I always feel better.

For me, these simple exercises help the creakiness in my neck, back, and legs. They help me maintain what little muscle mass I have. And they help strengthen my core, so that I can stay balanced while doing chores or getting dressed.

Do you work out? What is your routine? How often do you do what you do? My goal, now that we are moving out to the county, is to start walking again. I want to build my strength and endurance to help with my overall health as I continue to age.

My goal, with this blog (every third Sunday), is to inspire us all to take better care of ourselves, whatever that means for each of us. I believe we can be our best selves psychologically, emotionally, and mentally when we feel well physically.

So what am I going to do to help myself feel better? I am going to get up every morning with excitement to do my calisthenics. I am going to eat better, focusing on those foods which I can safely eat. And I am going to continue to blog and share with you information that can inspire you to get fit, be fit, stay fit – whatever you need, wherever you are currently at on this continuous road to healthfulness.

Please feel free to comment or ask questions. I will happily do research on any health topic. It is my goal to inspire us all to a healthy way of living.

By my next wellness blog (every third Sunday), I hope to have lost two pounds. I am not about weight-loss, per se. I am about health, and when I cannot fit into my current-sized clothing, well, it’s time to stop eating sugar-laden items and to pick up my steps. Agree?

See you next month!
